Michael Findley

Mike Findley is a Political Scientist at the University of Texas at Austin. As a principal investigator on the AidData project, he has helped oversee the mapping of 65,000 foreign aid projects from AidData and has worked together with the World Bank, African Development Bank, and the Malawian Government to help map their development activities. More generally, his research examines civil wars, terrorism, foreign aid, and development, and has been published in top political science journals such as the American Journal of Political Science, Journal of Politics, International Studies Quarterly, and British Journal of Political Science as well as leading interdisciplinary development journals, such as World Development. Mike has been a Peace Scholar Fellow at the United States Institute of Peace and has been funded by the National Science Foundation, among others. He has also been a guest researcher at Uppsala University’s Peace and Conflict Department and has spearheaded two projects to map nearly 60,000 terrorist events worldwide from 1970--present. His latest projects include helping lead a number of randomized field experiments on crowdsourcing development information as well as scorecarding development organizations.
